Time — "Missing Signals"
For this video assignment, I knew instantly that I wanted to base my project on a script I wrote for another class, as it coincidentally dealt with the theme of time. My script details an interaction between two women in an isolated subway station: a nervous, shy businesswoman and a stranger who looks suspicious at first glance. On a narrative level, the video intends to explore the kind of situations that arise when one must make decisions about a stranger’s intentions within such fleeting moments. When given little time to understand another person, it is very easy to misjudge them based on appearance.

Compared to my other assignments, the development process for this video was extensive. I began by sketching out a few storyboards (as displayed here) to figure out the general flow of the video. Afterwards, I further sketched out some keyframes before moving on to the final version of each shot. While I think this process helped me to create a cleaner film visually, it also meant that I had less time to complete every part of the story, and ultimately had to cut a lot of scenes and shots.
